Catch-22 (2019)

George Clooney shouted at two soldiers.

Catch-22, Joseph Heller’s 1961 satirical war novel, was adapted into a television series for Hulu in 2019. John Yossarian (Christopher Abbott), a bombardier in the US Air Force, does not want to get involved in World War II. John chose to become a bombardier, thinking the war would end before his training was complete. The plan backfires as John now has to bomb the enemy from his B-52, although he spends more time planning how to never fly.

Unwilling to kill, but unable to refuse his mission, Yossarian is trapped by a Catch-22 – too many missions will make a person crazy, but a request to be removed from missions can only come from a sane person. Catch-22 it still depicts the bloodshed and violence of war, but its satirical nature and dark humor provide a unique interpretation of World War II.
