STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is an Xbox console exclusive. The game launched on Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as PC. At launch, the game will be available via Xbox Game Pass. Although a release date for the PlayStation 5 has not been announced, leak of internal documents revealed that the game would only be a console exclusive for three months.

However, that doesn’t mean this game will be available on PS5. Tetris Effect: Connected also mentioned in the document with six months of console exclusivity. This updated version will be coming to PS4 in July, but not PS5. GSC Gaming World said STALKER 2 will not be present on last-gen systems due to limited performance capabilities.

Microsoft shows off STALKER 2 with an in-engine trailer during the Xbox Series You can watch the first trailer below.

As far as the story is concerned, the official site invites players to “Discover the vast Chornobyl Exclusion Zone filled with dangerous enemies, deadly anomalies, and powerful artifacts. Uncover your own epic story as you make your way to the Heart of Chornobyl. Choose your path wisely, for it will determine your fate and shape the eventual future of the Zone.” This implies that, just like the first game, your actions will have a major impact on the ending of the narrative. Additionally, not much is known about the actual story other than it is non-linear and focuses on bounty hunters searching for treasure in the Zone.

Another trailer revealed during the Xbox Extended Games Showcase in 2022 is about an area known as “The Zone” that could potentially “reveal a new world” according to the voice we heard. When a truck drives into this area, all electronic devices start to malfunction, the road cracks and ends with a spray of debris floating around a small beam of light.

Microsoft debuted gameplay for STALKER 2 during the E3 2021 press conference. The trailer cuts to a gameplay scene with a group of survivors huddled around a campfire. You can watch it below.

The trailer shows off many interesting gameplay systems. The first is the ability to pick up your weapon attachments around the environment and immediately equip them. This shows the player picking up the scope and silencer and immediately equipping them without going through the inventory screen.

It also shows off some enemy designs, including an updated Bloodsucker design that looks very similar to Cthulhu. As befits the STALKER series, the visuals look crazy in the gameplay trailer. However, Microsoft did not explain what system the gameplay uses.

Following the announcement, GSC Game World released a commentary video detailing several interesting points from the gameplay reveal.

Even though we see a lot of action, survival mechanisms will still be involved. Hunger, radiation and stamina must be managed in this open world game.
