Google’s collaborative AI tool Bard has changed its name and is now known as Gemini. The tool is now also available as an app on the Google Play Store, meaning it’s now even easier to chat with Google’s AI assistant on your Android phone.

How to download the Google Gemini app

To get started, you will first need to download the Gemini app on your Android device. Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Visit Google Play Store on your phone.

Step 2: Search Google Gemini App in the shop.

Step 3: Choose Install button next to the application name.

Step 4: Just like that, you have downloaded Google Gemini on your phone.

How to use the Google Gemini application

With the Gemini app now installed on your Android device, you can start experiencing this new tool. To start using the app:

Step 1: Open Gemini application.

Step 2: Choose Start.

Step 3: After reviewing how Gemini can help, choose Againthen on the next page, select I agree.

Step 4: Gemini’s way of helping grows more and more every day. It can help you bring ideas to life, help you learn a skill, make it easier to do tasks on your phone, and more.

Through voice, text or images, you can now start using Gemini. Add what you want in the box that says Type, Speak, or share photosthen select letter icon. You can also start with suggestions from the top of the app.

Step 5: Repeat Step 4 to perform further searches.

Step 6: As you perform different searches in Gemini, previous requests/questions will appear in Chat near the center of the screen.

How to replace Google Assistant with Gemini

After installing Gemini, you can replace it with Google Assistant every time you say “Hey Google” or “OKGoogle.” To change the settings so that Gemini answers you instead of Google Assistant, do the following:

Step 1: In the Gemini app, choose yours Profile picture at the top right.

Step 2: Next, select Arrangement.

Step 5: Repeat this step and select Google Assistant if you no longer want Gemini to answer “Hey Google” and “OK Google” commands.

For now, the Gemini app is currently only available for Android phones in the US and in English. We hope this service will soon expand to other countries and languages, but the timing is unclear.

Gemini will be added to Google’s apps on iOS “in the coming weeks.” This won’t be a dedicated Gemini app like the one above, but Google is adding the same Gemini functionality to the Google app for iPhone.
