How to hide apps on your iPhone

People either love the iPhone home screen or hate it. Unlike Android, which hides apps in the app drawer, the iPhone proudly places app icons on the home screen. This means apps are very easy to access, but it can also leave your phone feeling cluttered, especially if you’re an app lover. The introduction of the App Library helps with this by giving everyone a centralized place to store their apps, but for most people, the home screen is still where their apps are stored. That a place to store applications.

Of course this is a problem if you want to hide an application. Whether it’s an app you need frequently, a sensitive banking app, or anything you want to hide, declaring its presence on your home screen is a hassle. Luckily, Apple has included a number of quick and easy ways to hide apps, without deleting them from your phone.

How to hide apps on your iPhone

Hiding apps on your iPhone home screen is simple and very fast.

Step 1: Find the app you want to hide on your home page.

Step 2: Press and hold the application in question.

Step 3: A box will appear. Choose Delete the app.

Step 4: It will ask if you want to uninstall the app, or just remove it from the home screen. Choose Remove from home screen to hide apps without uninstalling them.

How to hide multiple apps at once

Sometimes you want a good old clean, and want to hide a lot of apps from your home screen. Maybe it’s just a cosmetic app, and not of daily use, or you just want to simplify your experience. Whatever the reason, it’s easy to overcome.

Step 1: Press and hold on an empty spot on your home screen.

Step 2: Your home screen will enter “shake mode,” where all the app icons start to wiggle, indicating that they can be edited.

Step 3: Choose minus (-) icon by any app you want to hide, and do the same process as hiding a single app.

How to find hidden apps

If you hide an app, instead of uninstalling it, you will most likely want to access that app again. While it’s no longer easily accessible on the home screen, it’s not difficult to find those hidden apps anymore. There are two ways to do this, and both are very simple.

Step 1: Spotlight Search is a powerful iOS feature, and great for finding any app, not just hidden ones.

Step 2: To use it, swipe down from your home screen. Don’t swipe from the top of the screen, or your notifications will open. Instead, swipe from the middle.

Step 3: When Spotlight Search appears, type the name of the application you want.

The next method involves the App Library.

Step 1: Swipe left until you reach the end of the home screen, and Application Library open.

Step 2: Select the search bar at the top of the screen, then scroll down the alphabetical list, or search for the app of your choice.

How to hide apps in folders

If you want to hide a specific group of apps, but still be able to access them simultaneously, you can do this with folders.

Step 1: Tap and hold one of the apps you want to hide.

Step 2: Drag the app you want to hide onto another app, then release the app when it’s on top of the other app. This will create a new folder, which your iPhone will automatically name (according to the app), but you can change the name to something more relevant.

Step 3: If you want to hide other apps, drag them to the newly created folder. Repeat until you place all the apps you want to hide in this folder. You may want to place some other apps in the folder to fill the first page, or you can just leave them.

Step 4: Once you’ve moved all your apps to the new folder, you can adjust their location to hide them on the next page. Doing this is easy; simply tap and drag the selected app to the right side of the folder until it moves to the second page. Repeat this method with any other apps you want to hide.

Step 5: Finally, we recommend giving the folder a simpler title. We also included some related apps on the first page of the folder. Keep in mind that all apps on the first page of the folder will remain visible from the home page; however, the size will be much smaller than usual.

Step 6: If you decide you no longer need to hide an app, you can simply move it somewhere else. All you need to do is drag it out of the hidden folder and return it to the home page. To do this, simply activate jiggle mode.

After all is said and done, you are now a professional iPhone app hider! Whether you use one of these methods or all of them, they are ready to help you hide iPhone apps the way you want.
