3 great PG-13 horror movies to watch if you like Five Nights at Freddy’s

October is supposed to be the best time to watch scary movies, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy to find what you’re looking for. Sometimes, you watch a film in the cinema and then feel confused when you have to sort through your various subscriptions to find a similar film.

This year, the biggest horror movie for Halloween weekend is Five Nights at Freddy’s. And if you’re looking for something similar to look at at home, you’re in luck. We have a list of three similar PG-13 titles that you can watch from the comfort of your couch.

Happy Death Day (2017)

A mix between the slasher genre and a film about someone trapped in the same day, the film follows a selfish college student who is forced to live the same day over and over again until he can find out who killed him. This film features a number of quite tense chase scenes, however Happy Death Day is definitely on the lighter and scarier side.

The film is full of jokes, many of which focus on the way this poor young woman makes sense of the life she is currently living. A film about someone living one day over and over again is tiring, but Happy Death Day amazing from start to finish.

Happy Death Day these can be rented or purchased Prime Video and other digital vendors.

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

A film that takes an almost perverse pleasure in torturing its main character, Drag me to hell tells the story of a loan officer at a bank who is cursed after he refuses a loan to an old woman. Drag me to hellThe brilliance comes largely from the director Sam Raimi, who lets all his Evil Dead instincts come into play here.

Drag me to hell unsettling, but also very funny, especially in its harrowing ending. Few films can pull off such careful tone management Drag me to hell it works from start to finish, but that’s what makes this film enjoyable.

M3GAN (2022)

Tells a story very similar to Freddy’sat least when it comes to the killer doll, M3GAN follows a young girl who befriends a sophisticated doll coded to protect her. As you might expect, the doll eventually starts killing and maiming people to achieve those goals, often in very gruesome ways.

Like all the films on this list, M3GAN it’s both scary and funny, and some of the film’s joy comes from laughing at moments that should be scary. It’s a mix of tones that works perfectly, which is one of the reasons the film was such a huge success.
