Paramount+ is celebrating Peak Screaming during the month of October, and that means lots of horror-related programming. After all, it’s Halloween season, and that means it’s the perfect time to enjoy the best horror films that Paramount+ has to offer.
After narrowing down the options, we settled on the Stephen King remake, a film that’s both a remake and a sequel, and one of the most impressive adaptations of a Japanese horror film we’ve ever seen. Here are the three best horror films on Paramount+ to watch this Halloween.
The Scream (2022)
It would have been helpful if Paramount had called this film just that Shouting 5instead Shout. The reason why the number was not included in the title of this film is because of that Shout is both a sequel and a remake. Or a sequel, if you prefer.
A decade after the event Shouting 4Tara Carpenter (WednesdayJenna Ortega) is brutally attacked by a new killer in the Ghostface mask. This forces Tara’s older sister, Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), to return to Woodsboro and confront her own connection to the original Ghostface killer. But it isn’t long before the surviving characters from the previous film, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette), also become involved in the murder plot of the new Ghostface killer.

Animal Seminar (2019)
You may have heard that Paramount+ recently premiered the original film Pet Sematary: Bloodlineswhich is a prequel to the 2019 remake. Trust us when we say that you can (and should) avoid it Line of descent. Instead of that, you should watch the remake of Pet Sematary. The film largely stays true to the spirit of Stephen King’s original story and the 1989 film, but it makes one important change and has a much more intimidating dead cat.
When the family cat, Church, is hit by a truck, Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) is led by his neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), to a hidden grave that can bring the dead back to life. Unfortunately, nothing was ever the same and the Church returned to life as a wild beast. Nonetheless, when Louis’ daughter, Ellie (Jeté Laurence), is also killed by a truck, he cannot resist the temptation to bring her back.

The Ring (2002)
The early 2000s started a trend of American adaptations of Japanese horror films. In this case, Ring based on Ringu, which came out in Japan four years earlier. Director Gore Verbinski proves up to the task as he presents a truly unsettling monster in the form of a little girl: Samara Morgan (Daveigh Chase).
After freelance journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) is asked to investigate the mysterious deaths of several teenagers, she watches a videotape with disturbing images followed by a scary phone call warning her that she has seven days left to live. By the time Rachel believes the curse is real, her son, Aidan Keller (David Dorfman), has also watched the videotape. And if Rachel can’t figure out what Samara wants in time, she and her son will die at Samara’s hands.
