The Toyota Crown nameplate is changing to a crossover with the 2025 Signia | Taza Khabre

After a radical evolution, the Toyota Crown returned to the United States earlier this year as high-rise crossover sedan. However, the Japanese automaker never intended for the Crown to be a stand-alone model. So, Toyota has now unveiled a fitting sequel and unveiled the 2025 Crown Signia SUV for North American audiences at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.

  • The second Crown model for the American line is the Crossover SUV
  • Exclusively with the Toyota Hybrid EV powertrain, which offers 243 hp. with standard four-wheel drive
  • The front of the Toyota Hammerhead car with thin DRLs and a colored geometric grille

The 2025 Toyota Crown SUV adds more dimension to the automaker’s legendary flagship, being the first-ever Crown SUV and the second Crown SUV in the US. The name Crown Signia comes from “insignia” and rides on the same platform as all members of the new Crown family, the New Global Architecture K (TNGA-K) platform.

The second Toyota Crown model in the US will be exclusively a hybrid electric car. Its Toyota HEV system uses a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motor generators. This system offers a maximum power of 243 hp. and achieves a combined MPG rating of 36 (according to manufacturer estimates). It also uses Toyota On-Demand all-wheel drive with a dedicated rear electric motor for added traction.

Characteristic SUV with sedan-like driving comfort

Certain elements define the face of the Crown Signia, including the Toyota Hammerhead front end consisting of signature DRLs, a compact headlamp unit and a geometric lower grille. Sporting a wide stance, the Crown Signia rides on standard 19-inch wheels or available 21-inch wheels. Customers can choose from five body colors: Storm Cloud, Finish Line Red, Oxygen White, Black and Bronze Age. They can also choose between two seat options: yellow-brown or black.

Toyota designed the Crown Signia to deliver the driving comfort of a sedan and the versatility of an SUV. With its crossover SUV body, the Crown Signia can seat five passengers while offering plenty of room for outdoor equipment thanks to the 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, opening up a 6.5-foot-long cargo area.
